A new CD entitled Solace with uplifting and joyful music is now available, featuring works by Handel, Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Debussy, Bartok, and Barber. Other CD's will be available starting in 2012: Beautiful Baroque as well as modern works by Barber, Halffter, and original solo piano compositions of Walter Sirotich. An extremely rare example of the work of Louis C. Tiffany and Tiffany Glass and Decoration Co., the Willard Memorial Chapel is a favorite of classical musicians for its exquisite acoustics. Ria Carlo will present a sampling from her Fall 2012 CD release, Beautiful Baroque, as well as other joyful classical favorites. There will be a post-concert reception with refreshments to meet with the artist.

Ria will be performing a full recital and then presenting an educational lecture on opportunities that are available for the amateur pianist, how to juggle a career and piano, and what qualities can be found in “prize-winning” performances. There will be tips on memorizing music, practicing efficiently, and overcoming stage fright. There will also be a question-and-answer session. Total time: 90 minutes

The Honors Recital consists of the winners from the different age categories of the 2009 Sonata-Sonatina Competition. Ria won the adult category based upon a performance of Beethoven's Pastoral Sonata (Final Movement). At this recital, she will be performing George Frideric Handel's Sonata in B-flat (HWV 434), Frederic Chopin's Prelude in B minor (Op. 28, No. 6), and Alexander Scriabin's Prelude in B minor (Op. 11, No. 6).
